About Us

Established in 1960 as Tsholofelo Junior Secondary, the school was situated in Krugersdorp, Roodepoort West and later moved about 15-20km to nearby Soweto, in the Dobsonville Township.

A new change affected Tsholofelo Junior Secondary as the turn of the early 70’s marked a transition of the Junior Secondary into a complete Secondary School and also renaming it after the renowned Dobsonville Councillor, the late Mr George Khosa.

The residents of Dobsonville and other nearby communities welcomed the new dawn of George Khosa Secondary School for it now accommodated higher learning and assisted in enabling nearby residents and communities to enrol their children.

Led by the late Mr Mosobe as principal, the school flourished together with its challenges, managing to yield results and still have a few of its students today, actively involved in the school’s educational department as educators.

Leading head on today, in the year 2013 is Principal Mr M. G. Mailula who has accepted the reigns to stare the cart of education, discipline through hard work and together with his deputies strive on each day to fulfil the country’s educational mandate. We have dedicated educators and together with our support team bring a spirit of uniformity in our mission to educate, facilitate and help build promising leaders.

Our vision bares testimony to our future aspirations and hopes. We are also besieged by societal concerns, pressures and economical challenges from our communities, pupils and parents. Yet each day for us, symbolises a burning hope of creative avenues to affect change hence, our focus on re-branding ourselves to attract potential partners who will assist us and help grow our brand.

We believe in George Khosa Secondary not only as a school but also a formidable brand. We pride ourselves in our approach, new goals and are dedicated towards achieving our current and future objectives.
